Serve Opps

We believe our mission is to Rescue, Grow and Serve. Brushy Creek provides a wide-variety of ways to serve through out the year. Currently, we need folks to volunteer for:

Welcome Team Members for Sunday mornings - 2 people (BenjiL@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Welcome newcomers, hand out welcome packets, get visitor information, offer visitors coffee/water, walk them to the appropriate class.
  • Training requirements/abilities: one session, about an hour; must meet people easily and be prompt.
  • Service requirements: 1 Sunday per month, 8:55am – 9:30am and 10:10am – 10:55am.
  • Greeting Team Members for Sunday mornings - 2 people needed (BenjiL@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Stand at appointed door and greet every person who enters. Direct visitors to welcome station.
  • Training requirements/abilities: one session, less than 30 minutes; must meet people easily and be prompt.
  • Service requirements: 1 Sunday per month, 8:55am – 9:30am, 10:10am – 10:30am and 11:50am – 12:15pm.
  • Members Service Desk Directors - 2 people needed (BenjiL@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Stand at MSD and answer questions
  • Training requirements/abilities: one session, 30 minutes; must be friendly, on time and have basic knowledge of BCBC.
  • Service requirements: One Sunday or Wednesday (during The Greenhouse sessions) a month 9am -12pm on Sundays or 6:35pm - 7:05pm on Wednesdays.
  • Men’s Ministry Committee - 5 people needed (BenjiL@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Help plan overall direction of men’s ministry; recruit volunteers to carry out overall plan and help with outreach events for men.
  • Requirements: Need to like planning men’s events and interacting with men. Meeting times will vary as needs dictate.
  • Media Personnel – 6 people needed (RobbieS@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Run Media on Sundays; Rotate Sunday mornings.
  • Abilities needed: Basic computer skills, willingness to be trained and ability to remain focused on the task at hand.
  • Light Board Operator - 2-3 people needed (RobbieS@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Training requirements/abilities: Will be trained.
  • Service Requirements: Rotate Sunday mornings.
  • Music Ministry Singers (RobbieS@BrushyCreek.org)

  • 10 Sopranos, 10 Tenors in 1st Service
  • 30 People to sing in 2nd service
  • Instrumentalists for orchestra: 5 Woodwinds, 10 Strings, 2 percussionists, 3 brass players (RobbieS@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Requirements: Singers must be able to carry a tune; instrumentalists must have proficiency level of High School or above.
  • Senior Adult Ministry – 8 people needed (RobbieS@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Visit shut-ins, hospitals, nursing homes. Drive senior adults to appointments, send cards.
  • Merry Makers Ministry – 4 people needed as kitchen help 1 person needed as Program Coordinator (RobbieS@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Kitchen - Help Winston Florence with preparation and clean up.
  • Program Coordinator - Line up monthly meetings.
  • Office Help – 12 people (4 teams of 3 people) (KarenC@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: On a rotating basis, stuff bulletins with an additional piece of literature as needed. This is done a couple of times a month, so volunteers would be needed to do this about 4 -5 times a year each.
  • When: Friday afternoons at 1:30 for about 1 hour, only as needed.
  • Celebrate Recovery: If you have a heart for people who are trying to overcome hurts, hang-ups and destructive habits, you can be of assistance. (JimR@BrushyCreek.org, JeremiahO@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Greeters for CR and Landing Mondays 5:15-7:45pm.
  • Helpers for Celebration Place for kids (ages 5-13) Mondays 6:30-8:30pm.
  • Students – Greeters needed for Sunday Morning (JeremiahO@BrushyCreek.org)

  • What they do: Greet kids attending Bible study.
  • Requirements: Must be friendly and able to be on time. 9:00am until 9:30am.
  • Editor to make Graduate video once a year.
  • Sunday School - (AngelaC@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Needed: Substitute Sunday School Teachers/possible future teachers.
  • Requirements: Experience as a Sunday School teacher and/or willingness to be trained to be a Sunday School teacher.
  • Special One Time, Big Event Needs (AngelaC@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Ladies to work on teacher appreciation gifts the week before Valentine’s, Easter, the last Greenhouse session and Christmas. (4 ladies needed).
  • Women at The Creek Various Volunteers (AngelaC@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Ladies to sell tickets at the Member Services Desk for women’s events. (4 ladies, 9am-12:30pm on Sundays, once a month).
  • Ladies to cook for a few women’s events. (6 ladies needed).
  • Women who will help plan and facilitate women’s events (6 needed).
  • Women who will help set up, decorate, tear down and clean up after women’s events (10 needed).
  • Hostesses who will greet, serve food, and take tickets for women’s events (10 needed).
  • Ladies who will prepare, decorate and serve a meal, twice a year, for our Widow’s luncheons (15 women needed).
  • Greenhouse Volunteers (AngelaC@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Greeters for Greenhouse (3 couples).
  • Registration personnel to work at Member Services Desk the week before each Greenhouse session (1 or 2 people).
  • Children and Pre-school Ministry (LizzibethS@BrushyCreek.org, or ShereeB@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Connection Team – Need people to contact kids who are “missing in action” and those who have birthdays by writing a postcard from home.
  • Preparation Team – Volunteers who come one morning each week and help re-supply teacher bins (assembling materials, preparing cut outs, etc.) Several people needed each week.
  • Creekside Kids Children's Department (LizzibethS@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Director for Hour B – Person to ensure staffing is in place, greet visitors, deal with problems, etc. This person would serve every other week
  • Teachers (2) for 3rd Grade Hour A
  • Teachers (2) for 2nd Grade Hour B (every other week)
  • Substitutes for hours A and B (as needed)
  • All positions will need to be filled. Training will be on August 13 from 9am until 1pm. Contact Lizzi-beths@brushycreek.org.
  • Please note: In an effort to make it more convenient for people to serve, most materials are prepped for you and you will only need about 15 minutes a week to read through the lesson. Any extra time you can devote should be made in personally connecting with the children and their families through phone calls, postcards, visits, etc.
  • Creekside Kids Pre-school Department (ShereeB@BrushyCreek.org)

  • Newborns Hour B (first and third Sundays of the month)
  • Assistant Teacher for 3-Year-Olds, Hour A (second and fourth Sunday)
  • Assistant Teacher for 4-Year-Olds, Hour B (every Sunday)
  • Substitutes for hours A and B (as needed)
  • Sunday School and Awana for 2016-2017
