Outside of the Bible, my favorite book is “The Greatest Generation” by Tom Brokaw. It reminds me of how awesome my grandparents were. When I was 12 years old, my grandfather asked if I wanted to go with him hunting. I have been hooked ever since.
The best part of my day is the moment I get home from work and my three kids scream my name and come running at me... that never gets old.
Best 90s jam: Toss-up between “You Can’t Touch This” and “Ice Ice Baby.”
In seminary, I worked for Ann Taylor. It was the worst job, because it was a women’s clothing store. It was the best job, because they allowed me to work in the back and watch football while I folded and sorted cloths.
Ministries include Music, Men at The Creek and Merry Makers
My favorite band is The Temptations. Reminds me of my first date with my wife. Nowadays, I like taking her to the Waffle House – the original “dinner theatre.”
I like the Gamecocks. I grew up near Columbia and got to play a few downs at Williams Brice Stadium as a kid. Growing up, I wanted to be a ball player.
Best advice I’ve been given: Perfect practice makes perfect performance.
Best advice I give: You don’t know everything!
If I could meet anyone in the Bible, I’d want a face-to-face with Adam. I’d tell him we’re still doing what our women want us to do!
I play the guitar and cello and sing 2nd tenor. My favorite hymn is “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”
Ministries include Adult Education and Women at The Creek.
I love my Tigers! I graduated from Clemson University in '97. I miss tailgating and sitting in the student section of Death Valley! I went to my first game during the National Championship Season and saw William Perry play!
When my niece, Scout, and I hit the Peace Center for a show, we like to eat at Genevieve’s. But let’s be honest, I’m mostly a Zaxby’s or McD’s girl… it fits the budget and is less than a mile away.
I also like taking Scout to Disney. My favorite princess is Cinderella. She is kind and gracious and overcame her circumstances.
I LOVE 80s music! Lionel Richie, Kool and the Gang, Michael Jackson, Chicago, Whitney Houston, Traci Chapman, Cyndi Lauper, and so many more.
Ministries include Students and Teen Recovery
I enjoy restoring Italian sports cars. I sold two in college to pay for two different semesters, and I sold another when Madelynn was born to pay for her doctor bills.
I was born Jeremy OIiver. My parents changed my name (legally) to Jeremiah when I was a little over a year old, because my grandmother believed God had a special calling on my life. They felt having a biblical first name was more fitting.
Best advice I’ve received: “It is better to have a youth’s respect than their friendship.”
The craziest thing I’ve done to serve God was travel to Japan with BCBC after the tsunami. I went almost two weeks without talking to my family, surrounded by the risk of more earthquakes and toxic air from the destruction of homes and a nuclear power plant.
My favorite verse is Isaiah 26: 3-4 "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Ministries include Missions, Adult Recovery, Hispanic & Arabic
My wife and I have lived around the world to serve God, including the Far East. That might explain why my favorite local restaurant is Menkoi Ramen House, with its authentic Japanese comfort food.
The craziest thing I've done while serving God is preaching to 500 in an auditorium in Japan, in Japanese, dressed as Santa... at Christmas, of course.
The best advice I give is the same I received: Focus on what God knows, not on what others think.
If I could meet anyone in the Bible, other than Jesus, I'd want to meet Paul. I'd like to know his real personality.
Ministries include Creekside Kids
I love ZUMBA! It gives me a chance to have fun and exercise. It is one thing that I do for myself and it gives me the energy I need to keep going.
I’m totally a morning person. Many nights I am in the bed by 9 pm, which is one reason I believe God moved me from college ministry to children’s ministry. Our events didn’t get started in college ministry until 9 pm.
As a child, I always wanted to be a teacher and a writer. I played school for countless hours. I also won several writing contests and published a book in the 3rd grade.
There is only one expression of yourself that will ever be in all of history. Do not try to copy others. Find out who God uniquely created you to be (passions, spiritual gifts, personality) and be the best version of that you can be.
